Well…you found me. Welcome to this Online Community, Debbie’s Vision Links, my little corner of the internet where ideas, encouragement, creativity, real conversations, and probably too many projects all somehow ended up living together under one roof.
This site is not about pretending life is perfect. It’s about learning, growing, adapting, laughing at yourself sometimes, finding opportunities in unexpected places, and figuring things out one step at a time…even when the path gets messy…especially when it gets messy.
Some people build websites around a niche. Not me. I have to be different. I apparently built one around my personality. Yes, I’m a littel sarrcastic, a little serious, a little ambitious, and absolutely chaotic at times. But I’m always me. I’m always real.
Some of the most meaningful parts of life come from the things we never planned for. The detours that culdn’t be avoided. The challenges that slapped us in the face. The unexpected opportunities presented when least expected. The moments that force us to rethink what we’re capable of and move forward anyway. They give us courage, passion, creativity, and opportunities to learn and grow.
That mindset became the basis for Debbie’s Vision Links: Where Barriers Become Opportunities. I didn’t want to develop just any website. I didn’t want a business-only focus. I didn’t want it focused on me. Debbie’s Vision Links is a place where all the different parts of my life, experiences, interests, and passions come together in one space.
This community is a reflection of the things I care about most: people, possibilities, accessibility, creativity, health, resilience, income, encouragement, learning new things, helping others, and occasionally taking on way more projects than one human being probably should.
So whether you’re here for inspiration, resources, stories, ideas, encouragement, opportunities, or just because you accidentally clicked something and decided to stay awhile…welcome.
Honestly, I’m really glad you’re here.
So…Who Exactly Is Debbie?
Well, that depends on the day. Some days I’m writing. Some days I’m advocating. Some days I’m learning new technology. I could be helping someone solve a problem or speaking at an event. There’s a good chance I’m brainstorming my next big idea, or trying to convince myself that I absolutely do NOT need to start another project or take on another leadership role right now. Yup, that one rarely works out for me. I’ll usually take it on anyway.
At my core, though, I’ve always been someone who loves learning. I like lerning new things. Right now I am learning the next steps in my business success system while also learning Braille and new mobility skills. Yes, I’m a bit of an overachiever.
I enjoy finding ways to connect with people, especially in teaching roles. One of the best joys in life is when someone “gets it, ” when something you taught is understood by your student.
I’m always asking questions. I need to know the “why” of things. When I know the why, I can more readily accept the what.
I am driven by necessity. The saying “necessity is the mother of invention” is a true statement. It invokes crative solutions…right down my ally. Soemtimes I have to ponder the problem first. Oftentimes the solutions pops its head at 3 in the morning. At that time I have to write the idea down right away or I don’t rmember it. Crazy, hugh?
And, yes, I can be quite stubborn. I will stick with whatever it is to the point that I keep going long after most people would have thrown up their hands and walked away. It doesn’t feel like it in the middle of the challenge, but perseverance and patience pay off.
I’m an author, speaker, advocate, entrepreneur, and community volunteer. Being involved in organizations like the National Federation of the Blind, Toastmasters International, and Lions Clubs International, have given me opportunities to grow, lead, connect with amazing people, and use my experiences to help others navigate life a little more confidently.
Blindness is only one part of my story. The bigger story is learning how to adapt, how to keep moving forward, how to speak up when something needs to change, and how to build a life around possibilities instead of limitations. I love meaningful conversations, creative ideas, accessibility, technology, storytelling, community, advocacy, and helping people realize they are more capable than they think they are.
I value real people who are honest and joyful. I love connecting with people who can find positiveness and laughter in everyday life without losing sight of what’s important. Life comes with plenty of challenges, so we might as well bring some extra heart and humanity to the table. Life is simply too short to do anything less.
Part of the reason that I am so stubborn is because of my disability. I’m legally blind and completely color blind, which means I maneuver around the world and the internet differently. While most website designers are creative in their color choices, many are not contrasted enough, rendering them unreadable by other color blind and low-vision individuals, including me. Pushing toward accessible websites and apps one of my passions.
Why I Created This Online Community
Honestly? Debbie’s Vision Links was never supposed to become what it is. When I was first considering the income opportunities, I was motivated by my mom’s needs, which meant I needed to be home with her, combined with my desire to make extra money, write stories, and provide information.
Debbie’s Vision Links started the way a lot of meaningful things start: with ideas, experiences, frustrations, curiosity, late-night brain-storming, and a strong feeling that there had to be better ways to help people connect, learn, grow, find new things, and create income streams.
Ultimately, I knew there had to be a way to stay home to care for my aging mother with dimensia and be productive at the same time.
Over the years, I found myself collecting pieces of knowledge from all different parts of life. Advocacy. Accessibility. Technology. Online business. Community involvement. Worship Dance. Problem-solving. Personal growth. Resources that genuinely helped me. Yes, it’s a site of organized (and maybe not-so-organized) chaos.
I’ve learned lessons the hard way and the easy way. I’ve embraced opportunities that were handed to me and ones that I had to work hard for. There were times I had to figure it out as I went and times that the ideas and processes came easily.
At some point, I realized I didn’t want all those experiences sitting in separate little boxes. I needed to share them. I wanted one place where everything could come together. A place where I could share ideas, encouragement, resources, stories, opportunities, accessibility conversations, practical solutions, and things that might genuinely help someone else move forward in their own life, too.
When I joined this RRR247 online community, it all came together. I could take care of mom, create extra income, and share the many parts of my knowledge and experiences
And so, Debbie’s Vision Links was born!
This website is not a “perfect influencer” website. Nor is it the pretend version of life. And definitely is not one of those places that acts like success magically happens overnight.
This site was built around something much more real.
Debbie’s Vision Links became a place where I could bring together the things I care about most: learning, helping people, encouraging growth, creating opportunities, advocating for accessibility and inclusion, sharing useful resources, building community, and reminding people that they are often capable of far more than they realize.
Somewhere along the way, this website became more than a project. It became part of my purpose.
What started out as a way to make extra income has morphed into a place to share the many facets of me and my life experiences. You never know what you might find, from personal stories to opinions to recommended products and services. Explore! Have Fun!
